Costa del Sol is the beach most tourists skip on their way to El Tunco — and that's exactly the point. The waves here are gentle, the sand stretches for miles uninterrupted, and the pace is completely different.
Day 1 — Arrival and beach
Check into one of the beachfront hotels, walk the shore until the trip's energy wears off, and have seafood by the water as the sun goes down. There's not much more to do on day one — and that's fine.
Day 2 — Mangroves
Take a boat tour through the mangroves of Bahía de Jiquilisco. It's one of the largest mangrove reserves in Central America, home to herons, crabs, and — if you're lucky — dolphins near the river mouth.
Day 3 — Isla Tasajera
Cross over to Isla Tasajera for a day of beach with absolutely nothing to do. Bring cash, a hammock if you've got one, and plan to head back to the mainland before dark.
